When developing a new store, Wal-Mart Realty often acquires more acreage than it ultimately will use. We then sell these “outlots” for complementary commercial use. The outlots and excess property located adjacent to our Supercenters, Wal-Mart Stores, Neighborhood Markets and Sam’s Club’s are prime retail business locations. These available parcels are perfect for restaurant, retail, office or development uses. Wal-Mart Realty’s outlots and excess land are valuable properties, enhanced not only by proximity to Wal-Mart but also because of roadway and infrastructure improvements that typically accompany development of our stores. Many businesses have developed a corporate strategy of locating near Wal-Mart, but we also actively seek out new concepts and new types of businesses that would make good neighbors for our stores.
